St. John’s United Church of Christ, located at 315 Gay Street, Phoenixville, PA, kicks off Rally Day Sunday, September 11, 2011, with worship and Christian Education. Our worship services are 8:30am in Leiby Chapel, Youth Choir (not for teens only...all age children and teens) in the Choir Room at 9am; Church School on the ground level of the church beginning at 9:30am; adult class in Leiby Parlor and the 10:45am service of worship (including music), held in the Sanctuary on the upper level. The 1st Sunday of each month we include a 9:30 am Taize type service in Leiby Chapel (singing and meditative service).
St. John’s would like to invite your children to join us for Sunday School beginning at 9:30am. We have teachers for 2 age groups – kindergarten thru 3rd grade, and 4th thru 6th grade (this class will also help prepare those that wish to become confirmed at St. John’s). We will be using the Spark Activate Faith curriculum from Augsburg Fortress. Our mission project this year will be PACS (Phoenixville Area Community Service. Adult Sunday Church School begins on September 11 at 9:30am in Leiby Parlor.
Our Youth Choir (again, for all kids of all ages!) will meet from 9:00am until 9:30am starting September 18. Fifth graders and up are eligible to join the Chime Choir beginning rehearsal September 25.
The congregational picnic will be held at Valley Forge Fire Company, Route 23 and Valley Park Road, following the 10:45 a.m. service of worship (i.e. 1pm to 4:30) on Sunday, September 11, 2011. All are welcome. At 2pm we will be inviting local emergency personnel to honor them on this the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
