We Extend an Invitation . . .

Worship at St. Johns is formal as well as informal; liturgical and yet flows freely. Our worship reaches back into the cherished traditions of the whole Church and also speaks the language of the contemporary heart. Our worship offers praise to the Triune God and shapes our being as pilgrims on our journey of faith.

Join us for worship each Sunday at 8:30am – a non-music Holy Communion service held in Leiby Chapel. This service is about ½ hour in length. The 10:45am Service of the Word is offered in the Sanctuary and lasts about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Our 6pm Thursday Holy Communion is ½ hour in length. A new Taize style worship will be held each First Sunday of the month beginning October 2 at 9:30am in Leiby Chapel.

Thursday evenings at 6:00pm - Holy Communion in Leiby Chapel (Informal)

First Sunday worship is held at 9:30am in Leiby Chapel

Thursday Evening Holy Communion . . .

Each Thursday evening Holy Communion is celebrated during a ½ hour long service of worship held in Leiby Parlor. This service includes preaching and the hearing of Scripture as well as the reception of the Sacrament. Our Thursday evening Eucharist begins at 6pm. Both the front door of the church and the lower level door are open for the convenience of the worshipper.

This additional worship opportunity is designed to allow members of the parish and community to worship as a faith community when they are not home on a Sunday due to vacations or their work schedules. At this time, van transportation is not available for the Thursday service.

Sunday Church School . . .

Church school is offered weekly each Sunday beginning at 9:30am except on First Sundays starting Rally Day, September 11. Our church school is ‘adopting’ the Phoenixville Area Community Services as our mission project for this year. This is a continuation of our 2011 Vacation Bible School ministry who adopted PACS for this year’s VBS mission project. Watch for ways to encourage this ministry in addition to weekly donations of canned and packaged goods in the PACS Food Pantry box (and our fresh produce donations during the growing season from our St. John’s United Church of Christ Organic Community Garden!)

Church school for children, youth and adults began September 11 for the 2011-2012 year. Children come together each week for singing, Bible Study and activity.  Youth in our confirmation ministry and pre-confirmation have the opportunity to learn in a reflective way on a Sunday which enhances their confirmation experience. Confirmation class has two students who begin their preparations on September 6. These students are: Christina Miller  and Dwight Marazas. Our Sunday adult group uses a weekly lectionary curricula and examines the lectionary texts for the day.

ADULT WEEKDAY EDUCATION . .  Beginning January 11, 2012 at 6pm we will commence with a series of 6pm  to 7pm weekly converstions on the topic of Healthcare and Hospitals in the mission of the church. Join us.
