What's News 2010

"What's News?" is that portion of the St. John's UCC website that is dedicated to happenings in the lives of the members of our congregation, our friends and our families. You might call it "Five Electronic Minutes Together," a sort of online version of the "Five Minutes Together" we share during our weekly Sunday Service of the Word.

We invite our members, colleagues and friends to share with us birthdays, anniversaries, messages of sympathy, items of concern and any other announcements you wish to post online. Please email your announcements to gruber@stjohnsucc.com.

NEWS FROM THE ST. JOHN'S UCC ORGANIC COMMUNITY GARDEN

****The garden is famous, check it out on youtube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3z0ysB7NfY

NEW FROM THE ST. JOHNS LABYRINTH: Dedication Day was June 4, 1pm (view the flyer). We are now accessible on the world wide web as part of the World Wide Labyrinth Web Locator. Our labyrinth is a 7 turn, 48 foot diameter turf labyrinth. You can access the Labyrinth Locator at....

http://wwll.veriditas.labyrinthsociety.org

The labyrinth is located at 412 Fairview Street, Phoenixville, behind the Fairview Housing Complex on Chester County Housing Authority property at the St. Johns United Church of Christ Organic Community Garden area.

SEEDS OF CHANGE, a seed packaging company who has donated seeds to the St. John's UCC Organic Community Garden, has placed two pictures we sent them on their website.  Click here to view them.

PLEASE GIVE ALL FLOWER AND BULLETIN MONIES to Robert P. Verish as soon as you can.

IF YOU ARE HOSPITALIZED, we need you or a family member to contact the church and give the name and room number and hospital or nursing home of a member. As of April 14, 2003, hospitals are no longer allowed to provide patient names or room numbers to anyone including your Pastor, unless the patient has given written permission for such information to be released to the public. This means that if Rev. Linda learns of someone in the hospital, unless she has been given the name of the hospital and room number, she may not be able to make a pastoral call. It is very important to call the church office to inform her of someone in the hospital or nursing care facility.

THE PENNSYLVANIA SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE of the United Church of Christ (of which St. John's is a member) is online! Stop in and visit them at http://www.psec.org.

There are MANY WAYS TO GIVE TO THE CHURCH. If you (or your neighbors) shop at any of the Genuardi Markets, please use your Genuardi Club Card whenever you shop at Genuardi Markets. The new program is run by eScrip and every time you use your card, St. Johns receives a donation. But your card must be registered. We have the forms for you to complete. You must register your club card with our ID number which is 1025660. We can register for you…just call us with your card number. This program begins October 1, 2002.

Don't forget - we still receive Acme Market tapes. The box for those tapes is on top of the mailboxes outside the church office. And do you have any old printer cartridges? We can recycle them and make some money for St. Johns. That box is also on the top of the mailboxes outside the church office. If you have any questions about the printer cartridges, contact the Church Secretary, Peg Hine during office hours each Monday thorugh Thursday 9am until 1pm.

DESIGNATE THE CHURCH in your will. It is truly a gift "that keeps on giving."

St. John's UCC is in mission in the name of Christ through Church World Service (funding coming from One Great Hour of Sharing monies) and designated gifts. St. Johns will participate in the annual CROP Walk in Phoenixville again in 2007. And we are working in mission through Church World Service in providing school kits for children in Afghanistan as well as for those persons stricken by hurricane devastation.
