What's News 2011

"What's News?" is that portion of the St. John's UCC website that is dedicated to happenings in the lives of the members of our congregation, our friends and our families. You might call it "Five Electronic Minutes Together," a sort of online version of the "Five Minutes Together" we share during our weekly Sunday Service of the Word.

We invite our members, colleagues and friends to share with us birthdays, anniversaries, messages of sympathy, items of concern and any other announcements you wish to post online. Please email your announcements to gruber@stjohnsucc.com.

NEWS FROM THE ST. JOHN'S UCC ORGANIC COMMUNITY GARDEN

****The garden is famous, check it out on youtube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3z0ysB7NfY and we were part of the CBS Religion Unit special program on the environment this May, 2011. We are ordering copies of this special. When they arrive you are welcome to ‘borrow’ one for your personal viewing.

NEW FROM THE ST. JOHNS LABYRINTH: the labyrinth has been filled in during the 2011 summer season. The labyrinth will not be moved nor become part of the new garden configuration in 2012. Please check the world wide labyrinth locator for a labyrinth near you. http://wwll.veriditas.labyrinthsociety.org

IF YOU ARE HOSPITALIZED, we need you or a family member to contact the church and give the name and room number and hospital or nursing home of a member. This means that if Rev. Linda learns of someone in the hospital, unless she has been given the name of the hospital and room number, she may not be able to make a pastoral call. It is very important to call the church office to inform her of someone in the hospital or nursing care facility. The church telephone number is: 610 933-5311 or call her cell phone: 610 207-6389.  You can also email her: gruber@stjohnsucc.com

WE ORDERED the 2011 influenza vaccine for delivery in the early Fall, we will not have a date for delivery until sometime in September 2011. We ordered 50 doses of the injectable vaccine and, for the first time, will have 10 doses of the Flu-Mist nasal spray vaccine reserved for children over age 2.   We will not have the vaccine for children less than age 2. Please keep an eye out for further information in the newsletter and church bulletin or through email. We announce  when vaccine is received and the dates for immunization as soon as they are firm. The flu vaccination program is provided through the generous support of Dorothy Botdorf Memorial Funds and is a great opportunity to save some money with the low cost vaccine at $10 per dose, vaccination is provided without charge to those with Medicare B coverage. If you have questions please contact Cindy Hanson CRNP, Katie Firestone RN or Ruth Brobst CRNP.

St. John's UCC is in mission in the name of Christ through Church World Service (funding coming from One Great Hour of Sharing monies) and designated gifts. St. Johns will participate in the annual CROP Walk in Phoenixville again in 2007. And we are working in mission through Church World Service in providing school kits for children in Afghanistan as well as for those persons stricken by hurricane devastation.
