Gardeners are encouraged to apply any techniques from the current trends in sustainable agriculture (Rodale, BioIntensive, Biodynamic, etc.) when tending their plots. The Phoenixville Library subscribes to Organic Gardening magazine and has an excellent selection of organic gardening reference books.

In keeping with sustainable practices, gardeners are not permitted to use chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or pressure treated wood. Any gardener who uses these products forfeits their plot immediately.
