St. John's United Church of Christ is in mission with Church World Service through, among other things, our continued participation in the Christian Rural Overseas Program ("CROP").

Sunday, October 16 with registration at 1:15pm and the Walk beginning at 1:45pm is the date and time for the 2011 CROP Walk here in Phoenixville.  Registration is at First United Methodist Church, South Main Street, Phoenixville. The Walk will end here at St. John’s. Cars may be parked here and ‘walkers’ can walk over to First Methodist to register and begin and pick up your car following the event. The building will be open….water will be available.

In addition to local aid, Church World Services sends humanitarian help to parts of the USA and around the world. To find out what Church World Services is doing today, call their Hotline at 1-800-456-1310 or follow the link above.

We Walk . . . . . .Because They Walk

In partnership, our CROP WALK . . .

Did you know. . .

CROP COMMUNITY EVENTS. Almost 2,000 communities CROP-WALKED last year; another 79 canvassed, fasted and created their own inventive ways to help stop hunger.

CHOICES. A major difference between CROP WALKS and other walks is choice. Sponsors may designate their gifts to other approved international hunger-fighting agencies because CROP WALKS are ecumenical and interfaith in nature.

EDUCATION'S A KEY COMPONENT. With a wealth of materials and activities, and creative approaches, CROP events stress the complex reasons behind the headlines of hunger - and appropriate responses.

MATCHING GIFTS. More than 145 corporations now recognize their employees' efforts in CROP WALKS with matching monetary gifts. Ask your employer!
